About Makura

Montrose roots. Grand Junction reach.

Makura Casias is one agent for the whole Western Slope. She lives in Grand Junction, works out of Montrose, and helps buyers and sellers across both markets and the towns between them. How she got here is a story worth telling.

The long road to the right work.

Makura graduated at the top of her high school class and knew she wanted more, she just was not sure how to get there. A month after graduation she moved to Texas to start over, took a full-time job, and tried to figure out what came next. The one thing she was sure of was that she wanted to work with people.

Then that October, everything stopped. A car accident on the drive home from work left her with a herniated disc, a severe concussion, and months of speech therapy. She stuttered. She forgot words. In her own words, "I felt like I'd lost myself."

She recovered, moved back home to Montrose, and went looking for what was next. Real estate had always been in the back of her mind. While working three jobs, she was introduced to a Realtor and took on a fourth role as their assistant. She studied for her license around a full-time and a part-time job, earned it in four months, and went all in.

That is where the "whatever it takes" comes from. She has done the hard version of starting over, so the hard parts of a real estate deal do not rattle her.

Professional by default. A shark when it counts.

Makura thinks of herself as the hero of her client's story, the one relieving stress behind the scenes, often before the client even knows there was a problem. She is a fixer. She over-explains on purpose, with a standing line to her clients: "I know I'm over-explaining this, but I just want your offer to be perfect." She follows the contract closely, stays honest and transparent the whole way, and gets aggressive with the other side when a deal needs it, without ever being unprofessional.

Friendly and bubbly by default, fierce when it counts. Her clients feel like family, because to her they are. When she is asked how past clients would describe her, her answer is simple: professional, a sweetheart, and a shark when a problem comes up.
